Best Practices for Addressing and Managing Alcohol Use Disorder in People Experiencing Homelessness

This training aims to enhance healthcare providers' ability to effectively address alcohol use disorder (AUD) among people experiencing homelessness (PEH). Participants will gain an understanding of how social determinants of health, including as poverty, unstable housing, and limited access to care, influence alcohol use and AUD in this demographic. Harm reduction strategies will be highlighted, including safer consumption practices and novel models of care. Attendees will learn to develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans that combine medications for AUD (MAUD) and non-pharmacological interventions, ensuring that care is tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of PEH for better health outcomes.
